WedWed - Wedding Wednesday {7}

This is one is for my ladies

I feel strongly that bridesmaids should have a say in the dress they will wear at a wedding. Last summer one of my bride-to-be girlfriends selected a color and then allowed her bridesmaids to choose the dress available in that color that they liked best. The end result was not only a beautiful wedding party, but a group of ladies that looked comfortable and confident in what they were wearing. If I've learned one thing at the fashion academy, it is that no two bodies are exactly alike and each will have a silhouette that fits best. What will be tricky for me is that I don't have that one color for the girls to look for and yet I don't want them to feel burdened by pulling an entire look together. I believe that there are enough dresses out there that, while they may not match in color, will coordinate in tone and feel enough to look great at the wedding.

BHLDN, a new online bridal boutique created by former Anthropologie Creative Director Kristin Norris, is a source I'm keeping my eye on. The shop made its debut Monday and I, credit card in hand, raced to see what BHLDN would reveal. How playful are these dresses? Also, notice their shoes - too often an afterthought in bridesmaids attire - bright with a bit of whimsy.

BHLDN isn't without tempting accessories for myself either. I do know that I am foregoing the traditional veil and instead choosing to wear a headpiece, but the task of finding the perfect one is still at hand.

In other wedding news, the save-the-dates are in and caterers are booked! This is the first week that I have been able to see things come together enough to visualize the wedding day!! I'm getting a little giddy about it, too.
